Never understood why people think cats are assholes. I have three and they all have an unique character, with likes and dislikes, their own way of communicating with us aaaaand most importantly, they show us everyday that they love us just as much as we love them.

I have a female cat who usually won’t come to me if everything’s all fine and dandy. But there were several instances of work-related stress that I would scream now and then (working from home) and she’d come around meowing and be all in my business. If I was lying down while I scream in frustration, she would go on my chest and lie down. It calms me down and appreciates it a lot.

My Mainecoon is not an asshole too. I don't know if it's a matter of breed, but when im going to sleep she always wanna to cuddle under my hand. Cats are not assholes. Mine is like little baby who need a lot of love and attention.

The first cat I ever considered mine sat on my lap by himself, after knowing me for like, ten minutes, he was already and adult we brought from the street after three years of my MIL taking care of him. He lasted four years with us, having kidney problems. Two days before I decided to put him to sleep and end his suffering in his third kidney crisis (he survived two), he say on my lap, by himself, barely having any strength to get up to do so, like he was saying goodbye. He loved to cuddle me, would wait for me to get home and sit with him. I have his paw tattooed on my chest, and after him, I never thought that cats are assholes.

It's very very rare cats believe they are to be equal with their humans, I said humans not owners so they rarely ever bond with their humans in most cases it's like a roomate relationship idk about mine shes a different story I believe they are capable of some compassion she sometimes comes and sits by my chair meows when I hold her too long to kinda just sit near me, that's all I get. Me grandmum knitted that for her btw :D

I'm pretty sure people who say "oh cats are assholes, they don't care about you" etc. never actually had a pet cat. They love and show love as much as dogs do. They're just alot more self reliant and individualistic.

I remember when I broke up with my ex and crying at the side of the street, this wild cat came approaching me and rub all her snot on me. but i guess she was just trying to cuddle and comfort me so I love cat.

A friend of my grandma had a cat who loved her. She would always sit in her lap, sleep in her bed and cuddle with her. The friend had to move far away and couldn't take the cat with her so she give her to us. The cat grieved for years. She wouldn't let us touch her, would hiss at us and scratch us whenever we came too close. My grandma was angry saying why does she even feed a cat that hates us. But after a couple of years I was lying on my bed with stomach ache and the cat came to me, lyed on my stomach and purred like nothing happened. From that day on she would come and sleep in our beds and let us pet her.
